Surabaya Workshops

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) organised a Safety at Sea Workshop at one of the Community centres in Surabaya. The event was attended by fishers, students and members of the local community. Here various points were discussed about Open source technologies, life saving equipment and a specific focus on the Fisher Aid. Attendants actively participated and gave their views on the design while also shedding light on other challenges. One fisher explained that his biggest fear is sinking as he has an ongoing issue of water ingress in his boat. Future content of workshops will therefore include topics related to low cost maintenance and construction to ensure that their vessels are as sea worthy as possible.
